Hot Summer Riding Tips for Riders

It's August and it is hot. Try to ride in cooler part of the day or in the evening. If you have to ride in the heat, bring a Trail Sponge for your horse. If you cross water, with this sponge you don't even have to get off your horse! Just throw it in the water, pull it back up and cool your horse down.

Be sure to keep yourself hydrated! Take a look at these handy dandy saddle bags, one bottle, or two bottles. These bags also have a pouch for a cell phone.

Bring some roll on bug spray with you. Every brand of bug spray will eventually 'sweat off', and a horse that is shaking his head from the bugs gets annoying. I use Farnhams Roll On. It is small enough to tuck just about anywhere!
